It's no secret that I am a fan of The Crown. One of the reasons I'm attracted to the series is the beautiful architecture and landscapes it's filming in.
If you, too, are a fine connoisseur of Regency period architecture and have some cash to splash, then you may want to rent said castle.
Airbnb is renting out the spectacular King’s Suite in the Belvoir Castle for three one-night stays across late December and early January.
Do you think I'm joking? On the website the description goes on to explain...
"For the first time ever, guests are invited to book the exclusive King’s Suite which was originally purpose-built for visiting royalty."
"Guests will be offered afternoon tea upon arrival, within the very grounds where the tradition of afternoon tea is said to have originated back in the 1840s!"
"Afternoon tea will be followed by dinner in the State Dining Room and a drinks reception in The Library."
"The following morning, a light breakfast will be served before check out."
Well, I say!
The castle normally has 14 bedrooms available, but this is the first time the King’s Suite itself will be opened to the public. You can view the other, less ostentatious rooms here.
If you've got your heart and eyes set on the King's Suite, you can check the listing here.
Bookings open at 1pm GMT on December 20th, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to secure a stay on December 31st, January 11th or January 25th.
If you're wanting to party there for NYE you're gonna need to work out how in the heck you'll manage to get there at such short notice.
However, that's your problem and not mine.
Personally I'm a bit too much of a pleb to rent out the King's Suite, so I'll just have to get my fix by watching The Crown and Young Victoria.
