CFS volunteer firefighters have prevented a house fire at Riverton in the Mid North from spreading, after responding to an emergency on Thursday evening.

Around 20 firefighters across four trucks were called to a property near Kapunda about 6pm, following Triple Zero calls reporting flames in a rear lean-to.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus moved quickly to contain and extinguish the blaze before it could extend into the main home.

Thankfully, no one was inside at the time.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to check for remaining hotspots, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished.

Damage is estimated at around $100,000, with Fire Cause Investigators set to attend to determine how the fire started.

SA Police and SA Power Networks also assisted at the scene.
