Senior Water Resources Officer, Dave Cunningham, emphasizes the significance of careful management during such times and that reliance on these water sources grows when traditional supplies like dams and creeks dwindle.

While cleaning these sources with heavy machinery can help, it poses risks to fragile environments and their supporting groundwater systems.

Though no permit is needed for desilting or cleaning, strict conditions apply.
