It will now be easier for victims of crime in regional SA to access compensation.

New changed allow police officers to certify documents instead of a requirement for legal practitioners.

Previously, when victims of crime applied for compensation, two forms of photo ID were needed and the had to be certified by a legal practitioner or Justice of the Peace.

Only one form of photo identification is now needed with the aim to simplify the process and reduce stress for victims, particularly in remote areas.

Commissioner for Victims’ Rights, Bronwyn Killmier, supports the government’s action, stating that it removes unnecessary burdens for victims living in regional and remote areas.

These changes ensure a more equitable and accessible compensation process for all crime victims in the state.
