A man has been arrested after police allegedly located an improvised firearm during a search in Whyalla.
Officers attended a property on Taylor Street at Whyalla Stuart on Friday, June 12, as part of an ongoing investigation.
Police allege a handgun disguised to resemble a mobile phone was found in a satchel bag belonging to the occupant.
A 45-year-old man has been charged with possessing a firearm without a licence and contravening a firearm prohibition order.
He has also been charged over an outstanding aggravated assault matter.
The man did not apply for bail and was set to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on Monday, June 15.
