The state government is looking to reshape local elections.

They’re launching the Local Government Participation and Elections Review, aiming to boost engagement in council elections.

Minister for Local Government and member for Stuart Geoff Brock is seeking public input, including on the possibility of compulsory voting.

In 2022, 93 positions were filled without elections, and 16 vacancies required supplementary polls.

All South Australians are invited to provide feedback until February 29, 2024.
