Whyalla’s Cuttlefest has officially begun, as the Australian Giant Cuttlefish have drifted into coastal waters near Stony Point.

There will be events happening all over the Steel City between now and August, with free, family-friendly, adventurous and creative events on the roster.

Mayor Phill Stone says the unique experience of cuttlefish coming to the coastline is globally significant, and this year’s program is set to be the biggest yet.

“Other organisations and businesses are on board, sponsoring and hosting events that will take place around the city, helping make it a community-wide spectacle, Mayor Stone says.

“Although the focus is on the cuttlefish, you don’t need to get anywhere near the water to participate, as numerous cuttlefish-themed events will take place on dry land.’’
